Wellness Policy
Dexter Consolidated Schools is committed to the optimal development of every student. The District believes that for students to have the opportunity to achieve personal, academic, developmental, and social success, we need to create positive, safe, and health-promoting learning environments at every level, in every setting, throughout the school year.
This policy outlines the District’s approach to ensuring environments and opportunities for all students to practice healthy eating and physical activity behaviors throughout the school day while minimizing commercial distractions.
A comprehensive school district wellness policy is essential to the academic success and lifelong well-being of students and staff in the Dexter Consolidated School District. The intent of a wellness policy is to create a learning environment that allows students and staff to achieve their full academic potential and enjoy lifelong health, while meeting the Public Education Department Wellness Policy rule 6.12.6.6 NMAC and the requirements of Section 204 of Public Law 108-265-June 30, 2004- Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004.
