For Employees Planning to Retire This Year:
Based on New Mexico Educational Retirement Board guidelines, employees who are working through the end of their current contract are considered July 1 retirees. Anyone planning to work a Summer School assignment will be an August 1 retiree.
Please submit your retirement application and packet to the APS Employee Benefits Office 60-90 days prior to your retirement date.
Packets will not be accepted more than 90 days before your selected retirement date, with only one exception: July 1 and August 1 retirement packets will be accepted as early as March 1, but will not be processed until April 1 (at the 90-day mark).
Another good idea if planning on retirement soon is to go to www.nmerb.gov and create an account to view all your information reported.
