 Special Announcement

January 12, 2022

 Dear DCS Community,

Due to the spike in COVID cases, both positives and close contacts among students and staff, we will be moving to a remote learning model.  Remote learning begins Thursday, January 13, 2022 and continues through Tuesday, January 18, 2022. Students and staff will return for in person learning and busses will resume routes on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

During remote learning, Teachers and Staff will be available during normal school hours at their respective buildings. Just a reminder, Monday is a holiday and the District will be closed.

Grab n go breakfasts and lunches will be available at the High School cafeteria from 8:00 am – 9:00 am, and 11:00 am -12:00 (noon) on Thursday, Friday and Tuesday.  Please make plans to grab your meals during remote learning days.

If you have questions, please call your students’ building for more information.

We encourage everyone to take time to heal and reduce sickness exposure.  There seems to be numerous types of sicknesses passed around at this time.

Be Safe and Get Well!  Thank you for your patience during these times.  We will hope and pray this will all pass shortly and we can return safely.

Below is a link to the current (amended) NMPED and NMDOH Tool Kit and guidance (Released January 12, 2022). The most recent change is consistent with CDC guidance.  “If you are exposed to a positive case, you will only be quarantined 5 days, (not 10 days) from the last exposure.  If students choose to stay at school or in activities, they can test on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th day, following exposure. As long as students receive negative test results they will remain at school.

Warm Regards,

 Miles Mitchell
