Hello Dexter Families!

As we embrace the crisp air and vibrant colors of autumn, we are delighted to share the exciting activities and accomplishments that have taken place at our elementary school this November.

This month, our K-5 grade students were thrilled to experience a captivating performance, El Coyote, from the Creede Repertory Theatre. This event was made possible through our partnership with the Fine Arts grant. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to witness the magic of live theatre.

We have reached the midpoint of the second quarter as of November 13th. Progress reports were sent home on November 15th. We encourage all students to be responsible with their classwork and homework. It's important for students to ask for help whenever they need it—our dedicated staff is here to support and encourage every child.

Our annual Thanksgiving lunch was a delightful success, with many visitors joining us to enjoy a delicious meal with family. Our cafeteria team once again provided us with nourishing food, and the turkey lunch was particularly scrumptious. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event memorable.

Our 5th-grade students enjoyed a presentation from CVE, which enriched their learning experience.

Additionally, several of our teachers, counselors, and I attended professional development sessions this month. We explored topics such as social-emotional learning, relationship building, and understanding the brain and prefrontal cortex. We also focused on adult social-emotional health, self-care, and multi-layered support systems for our students. These sessions provided valuable insights into trauma, including collective experiences like COVID-19, and emphasized the importance of building proficiency skills and shifting mindsets. It was a transformative experience for everyone involved. On November 5th, our teaching team and I engaged in aligning and adjusting our action plans to enhance student learning and implement best practices.

It has been a busy month filled with learning for both students and staff. We are committed to being lifelong learners and continuously improving our educational approach.

We hope you enjoy a restful fall break from November 25th to November 29th. Have a happy Thanksgiving and cherish the time spent creating memories with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on December 2nd.
